Abstract

The development and visibility of scientific publications face obstacles such as lack of resources, incentives and training in scientific writing, together with limited access to dissemination platforms. These factors restrict the impact and transfer of the knowledge generated and perpetuate gaps in the contribution to scientific development. The objective of the research is to specify strategies to increase the number of scientific publications at the National University of Chimborazo (Unach). A mixed approach combining bibliometric analysis and qualitative review was employed; four main categories were examined: book chapters, books, regional impact articles and global impact articles. The results highlight the strengthening of Unach's research capabilities, as well as the diversification of its publications. In addition, areas of opportunity were identified, such as the promotion of international collaborations, the increase of resources for research and the promotion of a stronger research culture. This analysis not only evidences the impact of institutional policies on academic production, but also provides a solid basis for future research and academic development strategies that contribute to the advancement of knowledge and the solution of local and global problems.
